Carter Liotta was born in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He received a Bachelor of Science from Ohio University in 1999, a second from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 2000, and a Doctor of Optometry degree from PCO in 2003.
He started in telecommunications where he worked as an announcer for WOUB, an NPR affiliate in Athens, Ohio. By his sophomore year, fearing starvation as a local news cameraman in the future, he switched his major to pre-med.
Upon graduation from optometry school, Liotta joined the non-profit sector and became optometrist for the Eagles Eye Mobile, a mobile unit that gives free eye care to underserved public school students under the banner of the Philadelphia Eagles. He continues to work there today, employed by St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children.
Liotta uses his travels as the basis of his films and writings. His documentary Route 66 won second place at the First Person Impressions Film Contest in 2008, and his writing was most recently seen in The Washington Post.
Liotta lives in Glenside, PA. Carter Liotta can be reached at CTLiotta@ymail.com
